Luminant skin and lemon juice??

2 Questions here:

What would be the best thing for more luminant skin for your body and face?

Lotions? Certain body washes?

For face, I guess im talking more of makeup, but suggestions for that would be good too.

Anything that isnt expensive.

And my second question is, Ive been hearing that lemon juice helps get rid of freckles?

I have a couple of small freckles on my stomach (im not sure if its from sun, or just there to be there), but I Hate it! I dont even want to show my stomach sometimes. So does it really help? Other suggestions?

Luminant skin and lemon juice??
Try lotions with "shimmer" or bronzer in them. They have some by the Jergens brand. I don't know the name but its cheap @ Wal-Mart. As for your face they sell skin brighteners some by the Revlon brand.
Reply:The best thing for "luminant" skin is a healthy lifestyle. Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of fresh water, get lots of exercise, get enough sleep. Yes, lemon juice will fade freckles. I think the word you're looking for is "luminous".

Skin graft???

Mrs. Gaucher received second degree burns on her abdomen when she dropped a kettle of boiling water. She asked the clinic physician (worriedly) if she would have to have a skin graft. What do you think he told her?

Skin graft???
Is this a joke or riddle?

I imagine the clinic said no, she wouldn't have to have a skin graft, since 2nd degree burns heal ok on their own.

But that depends on how much they like money and doing unnecessary treatments in order to make more.

I did have skin grafts on part of my 2nd degree burns, but the part of my leg that DIDN'T have skin grafts eventually healed on its own to look just perfect, while the part that had grafts is forever scarred.
Reply:No. Not if the burn heals correctly and without complications. Usually only 3rd degree burns require grafts.
Reply:Normally 2nd degree burns will heal up just fine and will not require a skin graft.

Ja.

My skin is ripping.....?

.......or at least it feels like it. with my first son I carried him really low and never really had discomfort. With my second son (37wks preg) when I stand for more than like 15 min it feels as if the skin un my upper abdomen is going to tear.it feels almost like a knife is inside me about to cut through the top of my uterus. NORMAL???it seems as if he is pushing his butt out really hard cause there is this hard lump (I know it is him cause when i push on it, it moves) any suggestions would really help!

My skin is ripping.....?
This is normal...I am 39 weeks and he does it to me all the time...its amazing how far your skin can stretch!!!
Reply:Try drinking more water and don't sit upright. Try a recliner or pillow behind ur lower back and lean against it. I'm carrying really high and my whole belly feels like its going to rupture if i sit or stand up right for too long.
Reply:Your muscles are stretched to the limit. And now that you 37 weeks the baby has less and less room. you should try to stay off you feet as much as possible. but just think 37 weeks that almost done. congrats!!!!

if you feel like the pain in abnormal call you gyn.
Reply:You poor woman! Well at this point now stuff like this is unfortunately going to happen. Ask the doc what you can do. My ob gyn use to tell me that to get your baby to move away form where it is, try rubbing the opposite end. I don't know if that is possible for you, but worth a shot! Good Luck to you, Congratulation's!!
Reply:SEE YOUR OBGYN
Reply:Take a warm bath or submerge in a pool to alleviate the pressure.

And repeat to yourself that it will be over soon and you will have a beautiful life in your hands and for the rest of your life.
Reply:Yeah, i guess that goes along with the territory sorta speak. I know a company called " AVON" HAS REALLY GREAT LOTION THAT WORKS CAUSE I USE it too cause of my diabetes , it works really GREAT . IT'S CALLED "AVON MOSITURE THERAPY IN THE TEAR DROP PART OF THE TUBE IT'S THE WORD INTENSIVE , IT works very well , just put some on my arms and hands and after even one use you can tell a difference . the malls sell it and of course you may have to look up the number to avon and get someone to bring you some. I think the cost is anywhere between $4-7 dollars kinda high but works really good like i said . hope you will try it.

Skin care product caused reaction on face?

it's small, but red and dry. it was a new facial cleanser. i have sensitive skin. the ingredients in the products were salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. the area on my left cheek is small, red, and dry. today is the second day that i stopped using the products. in the mean time, i am putting aveeno ultra calming daily moisturizer on it to make it go away? is this gonna work? has anybody ever had a similar reaction to any face products like this? if so, what did you do or put on it to make it go away. I'm nervous, I just want it to go away. It doesn't itch, it's just red and dry. It was 3 products altogether, cleanser, toner, and than a benzoyl peroxide treatment lotion.

Skin care product caused reaction on face?
Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid should never be used together. You need to choose one or the other. You may be having a reaction to one specific product or it may be a combination of all of them. Use just one product type at a time. If you want to use a cleanser, toner and acne medication together, choose them from the same product line. They are designed to be used together. I would maybe use a basic non-acne cleaner until the redness and dryness goes away. Try something gentle like Neutrogena or Cetephil. I would also use a moisturizer within the same line for now. Hope this helps.
Reply:I agree with Ms. Flawless. I had many adverse reactions to facial products with harsh chemicals. I went natural in my face products. I've tried Aubrey Organics with I loved, but am trying Burt's Bees now as I wanted a change. I have also discovered that my face is allergic to benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid dries out my face. So the natural products were a perfect match. Try products that are all paraben, fragrance, sodium laureth, and perservative free - these are the best for our sensitive skin. For red/ dry patches dab a cotten ball with organic sweet almond oil (found at health food stores for not that much money) and blot on the area over night. I wouldn't suggest doing that during the day as your face might look oily.

I cannot shave evryday because my skin is very sensitive. Can you help?

I am 21. I wish to shave everyday but I cannot. If I shave before the second or third day of a previous shave then I get itching and redness on the skin. I tried dry shaving with an electronic shaver and nowadays I shave using a razor. I want a solution or a good cream or good method of shaving that will give comfort to my skin, Please help.

I cannot shave evryday because my skin is very sensitive. Can you help?
First of all, you need to use a good lotion agter showering, secondly you could use a depilitory cream, though the smell is pretty bad, you could also wax. I wouldn't worry about it, if shaving hurts you don't do it every day.
Reply:I have the same problem. I have looked online to find some solutions. You can google 'how to stop razorburn' and it will give you some answers. The one that works for me is just to shave with conditioner rather then shaving cream. It helps keep the skin Moisturized. also if you soak your legs for about 10 - 15 minutes first, and no longer, then it can help your hair to cut easier and also helps prevent razorburn. if you soak your legs longer then it cause them to swell from the water, and can actually cause more irratation to your skin.
Reply:Try Nair hair removal lotion.
Reply:You need to use an Acid Balanced product for your skin, the natural pH of skin is Acidic, so you would need that product to also be the same..............

My Professional recommdation is Cleans Bar by Redken For Men, ( go to www.redkenformen.com to find a Redken Salon near you)

The active ingrediant is Allantoin, it is a skin/cell rejuvenator, and keeps the skin in "Balance"
Reply:if your body is alergetic means please avoid the shaving daily you can shave it for one week gape because if your body should be in good condition then only you can concentrate on any work otherwise you cant do it with satisfaction.
Reply:Look for a shaving cream for sensitive skin...also a razor.

You might try an electric razor.

Do NOT use any hair remover on your face!!!!!!

After shaving use a moisture cream for sensitive face.

Both skin incisions in C-section? ???? What should be done? iS THIS SAFE??

After a vertical incision of skin while doing my first c-section, Doctor advised me that they will do the incision horizontally in second C-section. I am very confursed. Because doing this there will be two incisions in my stomatch. Is this safe.

Both skin incisions in C-section? ???? What should be done? iS THIS SAFE??
The important question to ask is if the UTERINE incisions will match. The skin incision is not important. The skin incision may or may not match the uterine incision. So you will need to ask this of your doctor, and ask about the potential risks for future pregnancies.
Reply:From what I hear it's safer this way. It's a fresh incision so there's not all of the scar tissue to deal with. My friend had this done and everything turned out great.
Reply:Vertical incisions are usually done for quite preterm emergency cesareans or very obese women. Horizontal (aka low transverse) incisions are the most popular, done at the natural hair line, heal very well. The more important incision is the one on your uterus. Even though your skin incision was vertical, the uterine incision could have been horizontal, which is slightly safer in subsequent pregnancies. Even the incisional pain is less with the low transverse, less pressure from the organs inside the abdomen.

Prednisolone controls Lupus... but side effects destroying her skin elasticity causing deep depression. SOS!?

My friend has Arthritis + Lupus, LES. She takes Prednisolone, which causes side effects as moonface she already has.

Now she developed heavy acne in her neck. To makes things worse, her legs, arms, shoulders and stomach are loosing their skin elasticity, since her collagen is altered. Common movements produce pain, and on top, her skin looks so thin and unflexible, that you think it will tear at any second.

You can see superficial damage on her tommy as if she had given birth to 3 babies at once. Not exaggerating. Her legs and shoulders got scares and bruises. Her depression grows and we are so scared.

Doctors are treating the Lupus, but dont see any importance on the described side effects, since thats the drugs effect. But I believe ANY woman needs to feel good about herself, and each time people stare wierdly at her, i feel like I' m being whipped.

If this conditions had some medication or treatment, she'd be able to go back to normal life, work and friends. SOS!

Prednisolone controls Lupus... but side effects destroying her skin elasticity causing deep depression. SOS!?
Lupus is difficult to treat. As long as I've been studying it, it seems to evade answers. The reason is that it is a disease like AIDS, it destroys the body. Sometimes it attacks the brain, sometimes the kidneys, eyesight etc. The ONLY thing that can slow down this awful disease is Prednisone. Prednisone will immediately shock the system into stopping this self-destruction, depending on the dose. The adreanal glands produce approximately 7 mg of steroids that the body needs in order to help the hormones stay in balance. When the human body begins to take Prednisone, the Adrenal glands shut down, forever. There has never been a study that supports the theory that the Adrenal glands can re-start-up, once they have been shut down or driven to sleep. Therefore, the Prednisone MUST keep coming. The difficult balance is to keep the disease at bay, while keeping the body healty enough to fight the common cold. When the human body is suffering with an infection, too high a dose of Prednisone can mask the infection, making the patient believe that they feel wonderful while the truth is that their body is being invaded with infection. Your friend sounds like she has been taking Prednisone for a long time. Her doctor should be notified and he should try to adjust the amount of Prednisone as soon as possible. If your friend is "flaring," the only thing that will immediately bring the flare into control, is massive doses of Prednisone, after which it is usually brought down by 25mg a day until she is back on a usual dose. Good Luck!
Reply:Hopefully the prednisone treatment will stop fairly soon - this is often a short-term way to kick the Lupus back down, and the side effects do wear off once all the prednisone is out of her system. At this point, she likely can't address the side effects, so why not consider a massage or other ways that can make her feel good during this interim period? Main thing to know is that the side effects aren't permanent, so do other things that make her feel good instead of focusing on the side effects she can't change.
Reply:I have lupus also.

Lupus is an overactive immune system. The direct opposite of AIDS. Lupus is autoimmune, AIDS is not. Lupus can attack any organ system.

Prednisone is not the only drug to control lupus. Prednisone is only one drug. There are several drugs that are routinely used to treat lupus. Many of the drugs used to treat RA are used in lupus.

Your friend needs to voice her concerns to her doctor. As for her depression, an anti-depressant might be useful. Anti-depressants can help with sleep and pain levels so they're frequently prescribed even when depression isn't noted.

Rheumatologists are very quick to prescribe steroids despite their horrible side effects. They're a "quick fix". I refuse to use steroids on a daily basis- the side effects do not outweigh the good. I do use dose packs as needed but that's not very often. I'm in pain management so I don't need steroids to help with the pain.

Depending on the symptoms, there are several medications available. But she needs to talk to her current doctor or even better, find a new one.

To successfully treat lupus, a multiple modalities need to be used- prescription medication, diet, exercise, massage, sleep help, hormone treatment if needed, etc. Treating this disease must come from multiple areas... popping 1 or 2 pills won't work. (I take 14 a day)

I would also recommend that your friend find a family physician to overlook her entire body and allow this doctor to coordinate her treatment. The rheumatologist only looks at the lupus.

In the end, it's up to the patient to decide if he/she will take the medication prescribed.
Reply:i suffer from Lupus too and had to be on prednisone for 9 years! i can relate to the problems she is going through. The best advise i can give is to moisurize skin up to 3 times a day. When she starts getting off the prednisone she will lose weight fast which will cause stretch marks.

Prednisone is not the only drug that controls lupus. Ask the doctor whether or not she can go on Plaqunil. I am on this drug and the only side effect from this is slight tanning of skin which isnt as bad as the weight gain and skin problems from prednisone.
Reply:Unfortunately, if the lupus is flaring badly, prednisone is the primary treatment. She can look bad or she can die. It's that simple. The doctors will lower the prednisone as the lupus comes under control.

There are other immunosuppressive drugs, each with its own dreadful side effects. There have been no new drugs for lupus in 40 years.

For many lupus patients there is no return to normal life. Lupus is not curable, but sometimes it can be controlled. Life will never be the same again.

Consider a counselor for depression. If you look for counselors who work with cancer patients and the terminally ill (although lupus is not usually fatal) they will be better equipped to help her through this. Antidepressant medication may be necessary for a while. Prednisone also alters mood, sometimes severely.

The "acne" may be lupus skin involvement which would be worse without the prednisone.

We lupus patients hope and pray for something that will help us without the horrific side effects. Go to www.lupus.org and click on the "take action" link to help us out.

Skin problem, red spots, stress, immune system?

I have some sort of skin problem. It looks like ezchema but not scabby more of red blotchyness. my blood shows no allergys and i do not have scabies as that was the second thought my doctor had. I had seen a dermatologist who said it was acute urticaria(hives). I started this in November 06 last year and still have them. They itch really bad and anti histermines can only do so much. please help. And how long should it last as i thought 3 months was tops.

Skin problem, red spots, stress, immune system?
Both Singulair and Zyrtec work very well for urticaria. There is a slim chance you have developed thyroid problems, but a simple blood test can determine if your thyroid is indeed healthy. Both Singulair and Zyrtec are a once a day pill.

You should also eliminate all perfume and dye from your soaps, lotions, laundry detergent and fabric softener.

The following are the #1 recommended products by the American Academy of Dermatology;

*Dove Unscented Soap

*Eucerin Calming Cream (or lotion)

*ALL Free Clear

*Ultra Downy Free %26amp; Sensitive

By laundering your clothes, towels and bedding in the ALL detergent and Downy fabric softener, you greatly descrease the amount of irritants your skin encounters. It should make you more comfy.

When you get out of the shower in the morning you need to slather on Eucerin Calming Cream, and do it again before you go to bed. Apply the Eucerin every 12 hours or so.

You are a lucky dog to not have any allergies! Both my husband I sure do, and our poor kids have them pretty badly, too. Hope your itching subsides and you get relief soon. Take care.
Reply:if the dermatologist called it urticaria, it is an allergic condition, ask your doctor about considering a medrol dose pack, systamic steroids for a few days, good luck

Skin care product caused reaction on cheek...?
Yes, I have. It was a reaction to Retinol in a product. I had red, dry, flaky patches on both of my cheeks, and I tried everything I could find to see if it would help.

The only thing that worked was Aveeno balancing bar soap on my face, and moisturizing with a special lotion - DML. I got it from my dermatologist. You can get it from a drug store, but you'll have to have them order it for you. It's rather expensive, but it is the best lotion ever.

It took about 2 weeks to clear up.
Reply:When you have sensitive skin you have to be careful about the skin products you use, because as you have experienced some ingredients can really do a number on it.

Read about sensitive skin care and try the products on http://www.myskincaresite.com - if they don't work or cause a problem you get your money back - no questions asked. Can't do better than that.

Skin Specialists?

Can anyone recommend any online skin specialists which i could email? I am using tea tree skincare but i am still getting the same amount of spots and scars. I also have to shave every second day. Is water ok to use or should i stick to tea tree.

Skin Specialists?
My name is Puja.I am a skin Analyst. You may email me at puja_wci@hotmail.com

Once you email me the details.I will get back to you soon.

Thanks
Reply:Try the links in http://www.freewebs.com/cleanskin/
Reply:Would suggest you try Dermalogica products. I had really bad spots around my jawline and neck and went to a beauty therapist, who recommended Dermalogica. You can purchase online at www.youbeauty.net and they are quite alot cheaper than buying on the high street. I think that you can e-mail for advice. I haven't had to use tea tree oil since I changed to these products.

They do mens travel packs for about £16, would suggest you try this as a start since it should have all you need. They also do travel packs for acne prone skin if it is really bad!Good luck
Reply:Go to your GP and asked to be referred to a specialist dermatologist. For shaving I'd recommend an oil as opposed to a foam/gel, such as Somersets. That has tee tree oil in it. If your spots are really bad, they may advise Roaccutane - but question your GP carefully, it does have some side effects.
Reply:I am a qualified beautician (and medical nurse) and I would not want to comment on your (or anyone else' for that matter) skin without seeing it first! It is not the sort of thing that you can do online. You will really have to find a local, qualified, skin care specialist and let them take a proper look. Even so, any beautician worth their salt, would probably refer you to a GP or Dermatologist if you have persistant spots and scars (especially scars)

Skin problems w/ my min pin?

my dog has quite a few bald spots on her upper back/neck area... they are recent, and tend to come and go, but it has gotten worse lately.. I did take her to the vet, and at first they said its a very serious problems because its a bug that burrows below the hair folicle and can be very deadly for they dog...she had a skin scraping done, and they found nothing, so he said to let it go for a while to see if it spreads ...one minute my dog id dying, and the next .."just wait and see what happens"!!! needless to say I am getting a second opinion, but right now I am still panicing!! the patched are slightly swollen and they don't itch her at all.. I also have a boxer that she rough houses with, but not enough to rip out chunks of hair!!! also, the vet said she might be possibly going through a false pregnancy (but he isn't the brightest and I couldn't even understand him...from animal welfare) but he wasn't sure about that also..he just said it because he nipples are larger than normal

Skin problems w/ my min pin?
Don't let your dog be near rugs, cleaning detergents, sand, and grass. Also give your dog a bath once a month. My dog had something like that and I did this things and now is a lot more better.
Reply:????????????????????????????????????????... too long 2 read...
Reply:Another cause of skin problems in dogs and cats is the vaccinations that they receive. Read the Wisconsin University weblinks for dogs. Look up cats on the net.

Reply:You are definitely doing the right thing by getting a second opinion. It could be and allergy to something or it could be mange (there are two kinds: demadectic and sarcoptic). I can't remember the difference between the two, but I think mange usually itches. A lot of times the bugs that cause mange can't be seen in a skin scrape. Don't panic. Skin problems aren't usually fatal. If your dog is still eating, drinking, and not acting lethargic just keep the appointment for the second opinion. Otherwise take her to an emergency vet.

I have bad skin and odor everywhere on my body. help?

i'm dead serious when i say that i hate myself, my life, and i feel like i can't go out in the world and do the things that i want to do, because i'm just so damn ugly, i smell everywhere, and my skin is ugly and ruined, EVERYWHERE! i'm only 16.

i feel cursed or something. i feel like crying every second of the day because this is just not fair. why would god create someone like me?

i mean who would want to live life like this. it's disgusting. and i shouldn't even be saying it's disgusting because that is what I AM. it sucks. it really does.

i feel like i don't want to live. what good is it if i can't enjoy life the regular way. i mean if i wanted to fix myself i'd probably have to pay all this money that i don't have. it's not fair. god couldn't give me one good physical quality.

okay..

so here's what's wrong with me.

scars, stretch marks, discolored, dark skin.

black eyes (which i hate), odor everywhere ( which is disgusting), acne, blackheads everywhere.. ect

I have bad skin and odor everywhere on my body. help?
Tackle one thing at a time.

Week 1: Pore strips

wk 2: Ask a dermatologist what you can do about scars, stretch marks, discolored skin, and acne.

Week 3: over the counter odor remedy (Body Mint) in combination with clinical strength deodorant.

Week 4: Learn to love yourself the way you are. Keep an open mind that things will get better.
Reply:Maybe you aren't taking your medicines!

There are medicines that heals scars

Since you have stretch marks, I assume you're over weight... try exercising or going on a diet..

Odor everywhere? Have you tried showering? (with soap? )

IF you had and that doesn't work, get prescripted soap from your doctor

acne? get proactiv or prescripted acne medicine.. I have one and it works like a charm but it stings.

i have sensitive skin, i can get pimples easily and lose em easily... to lose em, i just wash my face daily with water. people say its bad, but whatever its rumors, because its working for me. one of the causes for acne is an oily face.. stop eating the junk food and eat fruits, and buy neutrogena soap , the kind where it gets rid of oils

discolored? whatever. you'll look better once the other things that you call ugly are healed... ( everyone loves a diversed person.. haha.. ) or if you want to take drastic measures.. which i highly dont recommend, talk to your doctor about it, it would seem to be pretty costly though..

blackheads? i read in a magazine, if you get a towel and pour really hot water on it, wait a few minutes where its hot but not hot enough to burn your face, cover your face witht he towel and leave it there for a few minutes.. then take it off, and wash your face... you may not see any effect, but do it daily and you will..

and thats all i could think of...

hope that helps..
Reply:God created men and women equally. dont hate yourself, but love yourself rather. if you have this bad odor, you can take a bath at least 3X a day., dont forget to put deodorant too in your arm, you can use lotion for you to have smoothe skin or cologned too for you to smell good. avoid eating spicy food it can cause bad odor to your sweat..for your blackheads , you can visit your dermatologist, always clean your face so that the acne dont live in your face. black eye is good, not bad. i hope i give you a little help..

Allergies but negative skin test X 2?

My daughter who is now eight was diagnosed as an infant with a milk protein allergy. Any milk ingredients or products make her break out in hives, a red face, runny nose, watery eyes, cold symptoms, a cough, an upset stomach, diarrhea, etc. Sometimes she has a combination of the symptoms and sometimes only one or two. Lactic acid gets her the most.

She went for a skin test and it came up negative. So her pediatrician suggested that we take her to Boston Children's Hospital to see an allergist. She also did a skin test. In both tests the hystamine control site did not bubble for some reason. In the second test the same thing happened, but the saline that was not supposed to bubble did. Could she be allergic even if it does not show up on the test?

Allergies but negative skin test X 2?
**Before addt'l info**

Did you keep her off her anti-histamine meds for a couple of days before the test?

If you didn't; that's the only reason I would think you wouldn't have a control reaction.

**************************************...

After you additional info...

Did she take any antacid meds, any green tea or other thing that was herbal?

If the histamine control didn't work than all the results are not conclusive. Get back with the Allergist explain that you are concerned since the control didn't react and now you don't have any real results. Maybe they can help you identify what your daughter may have messed up the results.

Good luck.
Reply:The ingredients in skin tests usually are a concentrated extract of proteins or other key compounds in the allergen. Even though the skin tests use very potent concentrations, they don't always have all of the constituents present in real life. So, a person could be allergic to some other constituent besides protein, resulting in a negative test. You can perform your own test by putting a drop of milk on the skin, and making a tiny little pinprick with a sterile sewing needle, just enough to break the skin under the milk drop.

Is second hand smoke making me break out?

recently (not exactly sure when) i went to meet my some of my bfs friends and one of them smoked ALOT and i ended up inhaling alot of it even though we were outside....and this entire week i have been breaking out BAD. could his second hand smoke be the reason why ive been breaking out?? (i go to a dermatologist since i do have skin problems in general but i havent broken out this bad since i stopped taking my skin medication....and i was on my medication at the time)

Is second hand smoke making me break out?
Yes, the passive smoke could easily have contributed to this. Stay away from any tobacco smoke for the next week or so. Then you should review what you want to do.
Reply:yes@
Reply:Most likely, smoking does NOTHING for the body apart from harm it.

How do i help heal my skin?

I am currently taking monocyline for acne. I've been on it for about a year now, and have been fine. But lately, my face has really dried up. A moisturizer seems to help, but only for a little bit.

The problem is, it seems like if i dont want acne, my face has to be completely dried out. but if I want normal skin, acne has to come with it.

My question, first how the heck do i heal my face back to a normal level? Second, I think the facial soap I'm using right now is the cause of the dry skin. Any suggestions for a godd soap that reduces acne without destroying your skin?

How do i help heal my skin?
I used cetaphil when I had that problem and it was a great soap. I also suggest using a vitamin E lotion. That should help put some vitamins back into your skin.
Reply:Don't use a soap. Try the following product for only $10 called "Zap It"

Special Ingredient: Salicylic Acid

Acne-fighting salicylic acid gets down deep, cleaning out pores and leaving skin refreshed and tingly—without dryness.

Each product in the Zap-it! Acne Treatment System contains salicylic acid—the most-recommended anti-acne medicine.

Salicylic acid penetrates clogged pores to remove skin cells and oil that cause blemishes. It gently lifts away impurities to leave fresh, healthy skin and open pores. In fact, studies show it prevents and clears blackheads, whiteheads, and acne blemishes better than benzoyl peroxide (another common acne medication). Active ingredient: Salicylic acid 0.5%

Treat it! Get deep-down oil and bacteria out of pores. When pores collect impurities they can look more prominent—and become a home for bacteria. That leads to unsightly blemishes. That’s why step one in this acne-fighting routine includes Zap-it! Facial Wash. Exclusive formula contains salicylic acid and Melaleuca Oil T36-C5—providing you with the best ingredients from science and nature.

Reply:Actually, having dry skin can exacerbate acne. What does the dermatologist recommend? There are noncomedogenic moisturizers of all kinds out there. A company called DHC has some excellent products.
Reply:Holy crap... salicylic acid helps exfoliate the skin so as not to cause clogged pores(blackheads), benzoyl peroxide is what penetrate to kill bacteria(pimples) - think of them as a team SA provides and opening and BP kills the ick. Unfortunately BP is way harsh and if you have sensitive skin will probably do more harm than good.

My advice is to find a nice gentle cream cleanser w/o alot of oil. Always use a toner or moisturizing mist before "lotion" because it will give your skin some moisture before putting on the barrier. Aveda, Pevonia and Repechage are all really great product lines if you can afford them. A little goes a really long way. I also recommend getting a facial if you can afford it. The massage will gently exfoliate as well as moisturize your skin. You can give yourself one at home with some jojoba oil and any essential oil you like if you are so inclined.

As always consult your medical professional before beginning a new regimen or use of essential oils.

Anyway my story is this. I sat on a hot surling iron 2 months ago, and its healdd some what. But the area is still a very diff color from my skin. I'm asian and am very light skined. Sigh, this is causing me alot of grief as you can imagine. Anyhow its kind of a white color now in the center and is brown around the edges. I feel like its going to scar, because i had a minor infection at first. Should I seek plastic surgery? Will plastic surgery help heal it completely I dont care about the cost. Please help Im so scared its been about 2 months and I'm goin nuts.

fyi, i started using silvidine after it scared. Im just wondering should I see a plastic surgeon now and what kind of results it would yeld and how long it would take to heal after a skin graft?

Post second degree burn care????
no. it sometimes takes a long time to heal. yest it is frestrating. don't pick at it. use vitiman e cream on the area. I burned my leg on the engine of my motorcycle. your description of its progress explains mine perfectly. I bet it was six months or nine months before it looked completely normal. There was a slight discoloration for about 2 years. I could see it but nobody else even noticed it. Unless I pointed it out to them. Plastic surgery is not going to help it look better any sooner. You seriously injured the skin and it is going to take time to heal. Plastic surgery could cause more scarring.
Reply:Oh I'm so sorry to hear that!!

I had a burnt 6 months ago in my hand, and now it's a different color (red). It wasnt so bad, and everyone told be there would be nothing...but it doesnt seem like it will go away. I dont have money to pay anything. But if you just dont care about the cost, go look for something, there are some pretty advanced things to take care of scars and things like that.

I'm so sorry for my hand...was the thing I most liked about my body :( and now...it's red

hope you can fix your case

Hair falling and skin issues.?
Dandruff? idont think so u need to go see a doctor u may be suffering from a serious disease n u r just assuming!
Reply:Dandruff shouldn't cause hair loss. Don't assume. You may want to go to a doctor. Also, buy a shower filter! It will take out all of the junk from your water and make it as clean as possible. Using a filtered shower makes hair and skin softer =)
Reply:it could be a hormonal condition check with a doctor you may be low on some vitamins too.
Reply:maybe what u r having is a thyroid problem. check with your doctor and take a blood test.

Any ever get a penile skin bridge removed? I have a question about recovery.?

After a penile skin bridge removal surgery there were still flaps of skin hanging but no longer attached. Its as if the surgeon cut the bridge but didnt bother to remove the extra skin completely..so little pieces of skin are still there 4months after my surgery. He said they would shrink to unoticeable pieces in 6months.. but in the last two months i've noticed NO changes or reduction of these flaps....Any one have similiar problem? I feel like I have to get a second surgery to remove them.

Serious skin problem+allergy??
You could have an allergy do deodorants and also alcohol based fragrance. But you also might think about a trip to the doctor to see just why it take a long time for your skin to heal.

"V" 2: the second generation,,, casting?

Who would you want to return?

its gonna be set 20 years after the original Mini series where aliens called the Visitors come to earth and promise us peace and prosperity (showing us new things) but are in fact here for our water and us for food.

a small resistance formed to fight them.

there was a sequel mini series called "Final battle" where the resistance discovers a toxin that will kill the lizard aliens (they wear fake human skin to look like us), and drive them off.

There was also a second invasion (this time a true invasion) called "V the tv series"

this will go as if the two sequels never happened.

At the end of the original series, the resistance sends a radio transmission ino space to contact a alien force that once defeated the Visitors.

they have arrived. 3 beings of extreme power. But whos side will they be on??????

Last thing i heard:

Jane Balder (Dianna)

Faye Grant (Julie)

are all that are confirmed so far.

Mike Donalven (cant remember the actors name) is

dead. Having died 10 years after original events.

who else would you have return? who would make a good new resistance?

plenty of charectors survived the series

the resistance is finally ready to strike at the Visitors, but the "Leader" is on his way and time for Earth is running out.

"V" 2: the second generation,,, casting?
Actually, Mark Singer played Mike Donovan.

I would like Michael Ironside as Ham, Judson Scott, John Calvin, Faye Grant as Julie, and, most of all, Duncan Regehr of the past cast to return. Since the Sirians use the outer covering, Duncan wouldn't have to be Charles, for example; he could be either someone related to him or an entirely different alien. Nicky Katt come join the cast; he played Donovan's son when he was in his early teens, if memory serves. I'm certain I'll think of more actors/characters later.

It would be fascinating to see what happens when Earth gets a response from the Sirians' enemies, an alien race the Resistance hopes would be on Earth's side~although they could be going from the frying pan into the fire. This plot reminds me of the Colossus trilogy of novels. In "Colossus: The Forbin Project", the supercomputer takes control; in "The Fall of Colossus", the computer is defeated; in "Colossus and the Crab", an invation of aliens from the Crab Nebula forces the people of Earth to revive Colossus. Well, the Sirians looked like the most dreadful enemy; but, what if the summoned aliens are worse?!

I guess return cast depends on if they're starting from scratch or picking up where they left off. Either way, I'll be there to watch and record! Occasionally, I unearth "V" and "V: The Final Battle" to watch again. Sadly, I had VCR problems back then and have only a few series episodes. I do have a complete set of the novels.

I'm certain there are many "V" fans left over and that a new project would win many more. Now, if they don't mess with the formula too much...
Reply:I used to love that Tv show.
Reply:I enjoyed that show. Mark Singer from Beastmaster (the movie) played the part of Mike Donalven. you say Mark has also agreed to come back? If so, that's cool. It just wouln't be V without him.

My retic. python hasnt eatin in almost 9 montsh and i need a second opinion on this one. My vet is a quak!!!!!

I have a reticulated python. she has been with me since 05 and has a normal eating schedual. for 9 months she has not been interested in eating the rats i buy her. I was always whure to feed her outside of her tank and she has never been agressive. My vet has told me nothing to worry about but i need a second opinion. I am less uneasy since she recently shed her skin. she is almost 5 1/2 feet and has gourgouse markings. if any of you have experienced this please let me know about it.........

My retic. python hasnt eatin in almost 9 montsh and i need a second opinion on this one. My vet is a quak!!!!!
I've noticed that a lot of people on this questions and answers feed their constrictors dead, frozen rats and that's some what new to me and the people I know. I started raising snakes when I was six years old, that's over forty some years ago and had snakes from time to time that just stopped eating for no reason. From pythons to Rattle Snakes (I had over 60 of them and milked them for the making of anti-veniom and I learned that I had the most luck with live food. Even so, I've had snakes that quit eating and it used to stump me until the unknown became common. I think you need to feed your snake dark colored rats (not white) and need to know it's eating habits for a while before you become familiar then concerned. changing your snakes eating habits, trying to figure out what is wrong is the worst thing you can do. If you had no problems feeding a snake a dozen times or so you pretty much know what and how that particular snake eats and what it's habits are. It's not rocket science. On the other hand, a snake that stops eating the same regiment has something going on and needs to be watched. Not necessarily a warning or sickness but something different. After my Vet told me there's nothing wrong with a 18 foot ret. python I had, I've found some mouth rot that came up some days latter, treated it and she was back to normal in no time. The time of year, weather change, shedding, new bedding heck, even different water and amount of handling can change your snakes eating habits to the point to where you might have to force feed her until you figure out what's wrong if anything. since I'm NOT a vet, if you really concerned and don't think your vet is up to par...See another vet and put your mind at ease.
Reply:okay calm down sweety. i as a snake owner have just been through this myself with my 5 ft ball python. she refused to eat for almost 11 months.

first the longest a snake has been recorded without eating is 1 year and 9 months!!!! the snake is alive and well today. snakes, all snakes i should say can go a very long time without eating. they also will not get sick or die of starvation. their bodies are made to be able to fast for qlong time if they so choose to. if they chose not to eat this doesnt mean that they are sick either. in your question you didnt say if she was showing any other signs of sickness so i will presume she isnt sick.

this is normal what she is doing. at some point in time all snakes will refuse food for a lenghty period of time. again it is normal. no need to worry. now if she shows signs of any sickness, fluid draining from her mouth, nostrils clogged, breathing with mouth open, mouth rot then yes be worried she isnt eating because of sickness.

some ideas for getting her to eat are

#1. wait it out, continue to offer her food and give her 30-60 minutes to eat it, if after this alotted time frame she doesnt eat, simply return the rat to the petstore.

#2. if she is eating "live" rats, offer her a thawed previously frozen rat, you can get these at petstores as well. the immense smell of "death" just may get her to eat.

#3. if the dethawed rat gets refused , you can refreeze it. by doing so in a ziploc bag only. again in 2 weeks offer this, and this second time of thawing will make it smell even worse, and may get her to eat because of how "deathy" it smells.

#4.offer a smaller rat or even mics to see if those get her attention and make her want to eat.

#5. IF THESE DONT WORK THEN YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO GO BACK TO #1. but continue with the schedule you had her on by offering it to her.

very good job feeding outside of tank. if you feed inside of her tank "her home" she will associate "home" with eating. so this is good you take her out to feed her. this is how people get bitten they feed inside the tank "home"

as for her shedding, it isnt wise to hold your snake while/during a shed , their eyesight which already is poor is next to nothing they cant see at all, its all cloudy(and yes they can see, not good but they can see) as well as their sense of smell is off as well. with these senses bad they will get a little more aggressive if provoked. i myself have raised my snakes f from babies, and have handled them in every single state of shedding, ive evn shed them myself when they had trouble. i only advise this if you have done so from day 1.

if there is any other questions or suggestions please feel free to click my name and email me. i will get back to you a.s.a.p. good luck and i hope this helps.
Reply:You have your answer. Your python is a she..and she's in "heat" for a lack of a better word. When a female is ready to mate she will lose interest in eating. Is it possible that her cage temperature has changed? That usually promotes the urge to mate.

There are times when mine goes months without eating esp. the female. Don't panic. Just keep offering the food.
Reply:If she is still muscular ,healthy and has recently shed her skin I would not be too worried. I would try her on smaller food than she took when she last fed. Try a defrosted day old chick to tempt her or a large mouse. She should be on large rats but after such a break her stomach may not be able to cope with a large meal at first, just like some one who has been on a diet and then trys to eat a large steak and fries wil be sick.

Try and make sure the viv is warm enough and she is warm before feeding. A full spectrum lighting system might stimulate her into feeding,

I own a pet store and sell snakes of all sorts.

Reply:If she has been healthy I would not worry to much . Are you feeding the right size pray for her ? You should feed her something that is the size of her largest girth . If you feed to small of pray she may not take it . Also double check your temps . Make sure she is warm enough and try feeding in the evening , right around dusk . I always feed in the same enclosure . Snakes can tell the difference between you and the rats by sight and smell . I have owned and raised many snakes including a 12 foot Burmese , 10 1/2 foot Red Tailed Boa and two 6 foot Monical Cobras so I know what I am talking about .Only try feeding once every week so you do not stress the snake out . You might try a small rabbit small gunia pig ,chick ,or braining the rat . I always feed dead pray so you can cut open the head and expose some of the brains this will usually work . If that does not work try dipping the rat into chicken broth then feed .

Suggesting that you force feed her is a ridicules suggestion .

Here a couple of good web sites or you ca contact me if you need more help any time

Reply:Something is wrong- nine months is WAY too long for a snake to go without eating and remain healthy. Even if you do get it eating again, rest assured that its digestive system is weakened, and regurgitation may be a problem.

You probably realize that you're keeping it wrong somehow. My first guess is that it may not be warm enough. My second guess is that feeding it outside of its normal cage is throwing it off feed. Whoever told you to do this is wrong.

The first thing you need to do is get its feeding response back. Start with a very small LIVE mouse, maybe a fuzzy or a hopper. If it eats, and holds it down, feed it again. Start with small prey and work your way up; if you feed it something too large, and it regurgitates, you will have problems, as once they start regurgitating, it can be difficult to get them to stop.

You don't need a vet; you need to read up on basic snake care!
Reply:no most snake wont eat while shedding, and as to the 9 month thing, the record for pythons not eating is 22 months, almost two years, dont worry, unless she is losing weight, try a different kind of mice. also if your feeding live mice, chedck for bite marks, bites might cause the snake stress and therefore to stop feeding.

Skin incision in c-section vertifically and utrous with horizontally, is it allows normal delivery 2nd time.?

I have vertically skin incision but inside it is horizontally. Is it allows to give normal birth at second time

Skin incision in c-section vertifically and utrous with horizontally, is it allows normal delivery 2nd time.?
I might be wrong but I've been told that if the uterus incision was made horizontally you should be able to try for a normal birth. As long as there was no other complications. If it was made vertically they don't advise a natural birth next time round as it puts to much stress on the wound area. Good luck
Reply:My sister had this done last year but opposite horizontally outside and vertically inside and her doctor advised against normal as the scar could tear so she is scheduled for her c-section on Feb 1st ....

What can I do to make my baby's skin obtain a fairer complextion?

My baby was born with a very fair skin. We started to apply olive oil and exposed her to sunlight for few minutes and gave her bath every day during her 1st month. Slowly her skin darkened and she still hasn't regained her color. Now ( during her second month) I have stopped applying the oil and exposing her to sunlight, even now she has not shown much change. What might be the reason, what can I further do to bring my baby's skin fair? Please help.

What can I do to make my baby's skin obtain a fairer complextion?
You can't change your complexion. The olive oil had nothing to do with it. Any color she got from miminal sun exposure may take longer to fade, though.

She is probably just starting to grow into her natural skin tone. Babies are almost always born lighter than what they will be permanently. Ask any mother of any color other than white, they will tell you - it's usually more pronounced with darker complexions.
Reply:Have you asked your pediatrician?

Otherwise, try using a "white-out" pen or Clorox bleaching pen.

What did Michael Jackson do to get his fair complexion? Call him and find out.

Is it normal for skin tags to have a discharge or to bleed?

I have been diagnosed by the doctor as having an anal skin tag. However, this is causing me pain and discomfort, as well as producing an unusual discharge that is orange/pink. It also bleeds sometimes. Is this normal for a skin tag, or would it best if I went to another doctor for a second opinion? I am also worried it might be cancer.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it normal for skin tags to have a discharge or to bleed?
A discharge usually indicates an infection. Bleeding can be a sign of cancer, but not necessarily. You may want to consult your doctor concerning having your anal skin tag surgically removed. This will eliminate the pain and discomfort, as well as the possibility that the skin tag may turn cancerous.
Reply:You need to see a doctor ASAP.

"Skin tags themselves are harmless. They are not a type of skin cancer, and they do not turn into cancer. But sometimes a more serious condition can mimic a benign growth. It's important to seek treatment from a doctor if: The tag bleeds or becomes irritated and does not heal. The tag changes shape or color. The skin around the tag appears discolored or irritated. "

It could very well be an external hemorrhoid.

Is it inevitable that I will get saggy skin after pregnancy?

I am 20 and this is my second pregnancy. The first time round I went back to normal no saggy skin.

Will I get saggy sking this time? What are the factors determining whether you get saggy skin or not?

Can I do stomach exercises during pregnancy to help?

Is it inevitable that I will get saggy skin after pregnancy?
I was a size 8 pre-babies. I had my second child 15 months ago and am still a size 8.

My stomach will never be as toned as it was but its certainly not saggy.
Reply:The saggy skin totally depends on how big your belly gets for how long. What happens is that as your belly grows, your skin grows as well (not just stretches). The longer it is stretched, the more skin is grown. This is how they develop skin for grafts for the siamese twin seperations!

For the gals I've seen that never developed saggy skin, their bellies really only got big at the end of pregancy and was never that big. So, taller women are more likely to not have saggy skin as there is more body cavity for the baby to fit in.
Reply:As we age, our skin loses its elasticity. So age plays a role. You are still quite young, so your chances are better. However, genes may also play a role. No amount of sit ups or stomach exercises while pregnant will help. Your skin is still stretched at that point. Exercising helps build muscle. It will have no affect on the skin. There are products out that claim to help with skin elasticity but I can't vouch for its effectiveness. Best of luck.
Reply:I'm the same as you were first time round and am now 31 weeks into my second pregnancy, but whereas before I didn't show until quite late on, this time I've been big from the start and am really worried. I do have a Pilate's in pregnancy video which I used last time- it has exercises for before and after the birth. They are really good as help tone your pelvic floor muscles so they get you prepared for the birth and getting back into shape after.
Reply:Its unfortunately genetic ,and lets face it unless you have the money for surgery not many of us have the belly of jordan after childbirth . but so what, its worth every stretch mark and bit of saggy skin ! best of luck!
Reply:I have two boys and dont have saggy skin, i used bio oil while pregnant and after pregnancy. I do think its up to what your skin is like, but do try the bio oil its great stuff.

Good luck with baby.
Reply:I have two children and don't have saggy skin, I'd say the best thing was breastfeeding, it tightens the muscles, and gets you back into shape in no time.

Tighten my skin?

Im 15 years old about 5'7.. when i used to live where i used to live my max weight got to 184.. i dropped down to about 170 total before i ended up moving as i became more active, then i moved next door to my old buddy in a dif town.. where im livin now, and me and him wud always be out and about, biking excersising the whole 9 yards so i finally got to 140.. after i lost all the weight i thought i had a chance to actually have a nice body so i didnt want to just be thinner i wanted to get abs so i worked on those, sit ups, pushups, chinups on my chinup bar, and this routine from 6 second abs. I now have a decent chest, and a 6 pack but its all hiding under my skin and fat. I can feel it perfectly, every detail to my abs and theyre visible as well, you can see the texture but just not very defined because i still have some loose skin from being overweight before, and idk if i still have to fat to shed. My skin isnt like saggy but its loosER cuz i used 2 be fat. How can i tighten it??

Tighten my skin?
it will tighten on its own. your still young it will get tighter pretty quickly. you still need to lose some fat, so keep doing what your doing and your abs will be clear as day. i would suggest trying to fill up some of that lose skin with muscle. consider weight training.
Reply:give it time. it will return. when you are young your skin is very elastic. it just takes longer than the rest of you to resize itself. it could take a year or more. stay fit. and congratulations... good for you.
Reply:tummy tuck...?
Reply:Read tips on weight loss and some great workouts for toning up all on this site
Reply:Sadly loose skin is very difficult to get rid of but you have a better chance of it shrinking because you are young. It would be much harder for an older person to get rid of loose skin. Eat a healthy diet, and keep working out and take care of your skin and maybe your skin will tighten up. It may take a few years though. Good luck and congratulations on your weight loss :)
Reply:I bet you don't like to drink skim milk, and I bet you lost the weight fairly quickly, cuz that's what skin will do. Just give it time, it will tighten up. Getting the right kind of nutrition helps the skin when you are loosing weight. You've done a great job! Hang in there!

Why is Kim Kardashian complaining about showing some skin on Playboy?

What is a foundation for oily skin that ALSO has an illuminating effect?

Illuminating as in giving your face a "dewy glow" to it. I thought about using Stila, but the reviews on makeupalley.com gave me second thoughts. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have fair-to-medium skin color.

DRY SKIN AND NEED HELP...desperatly!!!?
For your hands, I would suggest Neutrogena Hand Cream. It is really thick and sticky, but if you put it on well at night and cover your hands with white gloves, in the morning your hands will feel a lot better. You have to do this every night until your hands are healed. Then do it periodically before your hands get really dry. Maybe once or twice a week.

For the rest of your body, Eucerin cream works really well. You also have to put it on everyday until you skin heals. After taking your bath or shower and before you dry your skin, put a few drops of baby oil in your hand and rub it on the dry skin and then pat dry with a towel. It will guck the towel up, but it is worth it and does work. Also, don't take hot baths or showers and don't soak in the tub in hot water. If you take baths, put bath oil in the water.
Reply:Avon makes a really nice hand cream that works on the dryest hands I've ever seen...

Also, bag balm (the stuff in the green tin) works really well on dry skin, too.
Reply:Try talking w/ a dermatologist. Try dove products like lotions or soaps.
Reply:Sounds like you are drinking enough water. Could be that you are in a dry area of the country and if you are in a winter area with lots of cold weather, dry skin is obvious.

The best lotion I have found is called Malibu Hemp. I buy it at Walmart for about 5.00 a bottle. It has a great smell to it, it's not sticky and if used daily really helps clear up the dry skin that itches and flakes badly.
Reply:I have really bad dry skin too, my skin will crack and bleed, but I've finally found something that works for me. I use Aveeno 24 hour moisturizer, fragrance free. It absorbs really fast and doesn't leave me feeling greasy. My skin hasn't felt this good in a very long time.
Reply:try creams or intensive lotions like avon intensive lotion, even after I wash my hands it still stays on, try not washing your hands so much, and be aware of stuff with fragrance and alcohol in it, like body wash, dish detergent, antibacterial soap, hand sanitizers
Reply:Take bathes instead of shower and use olay oil body wash (shower takes more oil off of your skin) use a good moisturizer like vasaline creamy.
Reply:Try Booths oils and bath products, shea bath and others, stop thinking pills will help is not the answer. There is a pill for everything. Sometimes just old fashion remdemies work.
Reply:I'm the same way in the winter months. try taking a bath with baby oil in it. and get a humidifier for you room.
Reply:Try perfume-less soap i use dove and i use palmer's cocoa butter formula it works for me cause my skin use to crack ahhhh!!

Skin care for me?

i would like a good skin thing to treat acne. well i dont REALLY have acne. i have a few pimples here and there. tahts all. but i have sensitive skin. what do you recemend? i heard proactiv is good, but i wanna get a second opinion. thanks.

and sorry for not answering questions latley. school is such a bummer!! =[

Skin care for me?
i do believe that we have the same, oily to combination skin type, especially around our T-Zone. It is interesting for people to think that avoiding creams can help solve oily skin. But its wrong.

You can best help your skin if you do the 3-step facial regimen: wash, tone and moisturize. Washing helps remove dust that accumulated on the surface of the skin, toning provides additional cleaning as well as it preps the skin by removing dead skin cells that can just block healthy cells' absorption of the third step, the moisturizer.

The key is to be able to find the right product to help you with your problem. I can suggest the brand: Mario Badescu. They have a line of products that really is good for our type of skin, I personally recommend the Enzyme Cleansing Wash, Cucumber Toner and the best HONEY MOISTURIZER. If you use these products, they don't have the same ''stretched-dry-skin" that other products leave. This is often the misconception of people, that dryness and no oil means clean skin. What Mario Badescu does is gently and effectively clean it. Plus they're natural.

For additional cleaning and maintenance on acne, try their DRYING LOTION pink stuff that you put on your pimples which dries it, ACNE GEL, which serves as your drying lotion maintenance during day time. Check out their line of products online. I dont work for them, its just that they really work and i would like to share it with you.

Kudos to a healthier skin.

Skin tag right above my anus?

I have a piece of skin growth right above my anus about the size of a penny maybe or smaller. Its very soft and flat. I went to my doctor and he said its nothing to worry about and looks like a skin tag more then a wart. It doesn't hurt now should I get a second opinion, because he did give me a referal.

Skin tag right above my anus?
Is nothing to worry about, and in fact it's very common. If you want it removed, you can certainly go to any specialist who will cauterize it, is essentially burning it off.

The freeze here first so the amount of pain you will feel will be very minor although there could be some bleeding.

DRY SKIN AND NEED HELP...desperatly!!!?
Many lotions are high in alkalinity, some as high as 11 on the pH scale. Your skin is a 5.5 (acidic). Water is a 7 (neutral). That might be contributing to the problem or it might be chlorinated water.

Chlorine is used to kill bacteria in city water. the levels of chlorine vary from day and can be as much as 5 times stronger than a public swimming pool.

If you have city water, you might need a chlorine shower filter.

Make sure that your soap is unscented and has no dyes. If you need to switch brands, I recommend Kiss My Face Unscented, South of France Unscented, California Baby Super Sensitive or Cetaphil.

Make sure that your lotion is unscented as well, I recommend either California Baby, Cetaphil, or is your skin is extremely dry, you can use Eucerin Auquaphor until your skin softens a little (it's really greasy). Use the lotion within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower and every time you wash your hands.

Using oils to hydrate is not recommended, things like baby oil don't help to moisten skin but can actually act as a moisture barrier keeping moisture out unless used while the skin is still wet.
Reply:"is there like a NATURAL pill that i can take to help this"

if you weren't looking for this information then why did you ask? Report It

Reply:home remedy: bathe in apple cidar vinegar then fresh out of the tub, NOT dried off, soothe on vasiline petroleum jelly. this helps to seal in the moisture. this i got from my whirlpool instuction manual and it works!!!!!!!!!!!! Report It

Reply:I have extremely dry hands and St. Ives Advanced Body Moisturizer helps.
Reply:what temp water do you bathe in? take tepid baths and use hypoallergenic lotions like aveno. baby oil just after a bath will also help
Reply:I have the worst dry skin. After each shower I always cover myself in alpha keri lotion. Always carry around some hand cream, they don't have to be expensive and find some non perfumed moisturising cream for your arms legs etc. Good moisturiser for you face too
Reply:I also have dry skin. Winter makes our skin worse. I constantly have to put on lotion (usually an intense moisturizer)... I even bring it with me everywhere.
Reply:Evening primrose oil, two 500 mg capsules three times daily

Vitamin B complex, 50 mg

Vitamin A, 25,000 IU (avoid during pregnancy)

Vitamin C, with bioflavonoids, 1,500 mg

Omega 3, dosage depends on which one you choose, the only one I am able to get down and not get dead fish burps from is the one that comes in little packets of orange flavored jelly ☆
Reply:4 cups of milk in your warm (not hot) bath water, should do the trick.
Reply:The problem make be your skin very sensitive to chlorine...like feel of coming out of swimming pool. Try this it really help.

Demodex and skin scrapings?

After assuming my pug's itchiness was due to a food allergy, our vet had us switch food and give her prednizone and oral antibiotics. A week later, no change, brought her back, saw other vet who was -sure- it was Demodex until the skin scrapings came back negative (again). We are treating as such for now, too early to tell if she's improving or not....how easy is it to find demodex in a skin scraping? I have read usually easy, except in some breeds like shar peis. The first vet we saw in the practice told us she was looking for 2 types in the skin scraping- one easy to find and very contagious, one hard to find and not contagious. Our other dogs have none of what's going on with our pug. The second vet wanted me to just try benadryl 3xs a day and bring her back in a week- done that, didn't work, opted to threat with the ivermectin instead. So- what do you all know about the accuracy of diagnosing demodex in pugs with skin scrapings? Red raw skin on back, legs, armpits

Demodex and skin scrapings?
Should have been very easy to see what it was in a skin scrape. However; it could just be a skin infection. There are so many bacterial infection strains there would be no way to tell which one it could be.

I would skip the prednizone and stick with ivermectin, frontline and a basic antibiotic if skin scraping are showing nothing.
Reply:Could be flea bites or too many baths.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing. Be persistant until you find an answer.

Good luck.
Reply:You can be pretty sure it isn't sarcoptic mange because they would have found it.

Did the vet examine the scraping himself or did he let a CVT do it? That could make a difference in the results. I have seen some CVTs check for worms and have the wrong result.

Pugs are a breed with immune problems like allergies. However they usually present on the legs and feet. I would still assume that mange would be a more likely diagnosis, and trying ivermectin won't hurt her. If it doesn't help then go back to steroid shots in a higher dose to see if it helps. And asking for an oral antibiotic is a good idea too because the scratching will cause infections.
Reply:Well, my dog had demodectic mange, but it only showed up on one scraping... never on any of the subsequent scrapings even when it was spreading. Go figure.

First, I would switch to a really high quality food to help your dog boost his immune system. I'd also supplement with some Salmon Oil to give Omega 3's.

Demodectic mange is on all dogs, but only those with weakened immune systems show symptoms of hair loss and itching.

I tried all kinds of stuff because I don't like giving my dogs chemicals/poisons if I don't have to. Finally, I switched all my dogs to a raw prey model diet... the foster with the demodectic mange cleared up in 3-4 weeks. All her hair grew back and hasn't had any problems since. I fed according to the raw prey model diet and supplemented with the Salmon Oil for omega 3's.

If you absolutely won't try the raw diet, then I'd switch to Evo or another grain free food (since grains cause all kinds of skin issues in dogs...)

Good luck.

Reply:If you've given the treatment a fair trial and you feel it's not helping, let your doctor know so he can try something else that may be more effective for you. All medications don't work the same on all people. Good luck!
Reply:You did not tell us what the illness is, or what medication you are using (cream). Without more info, it is very hard to give you ideas.

If you have psoriasis, sun light can help that, but not to excess, not to tan. If you do, you might consider visiting www.psoriasis.org.

Second degree burn not healing?

I have a second degree burn that doesnt seem to be healing. k this is the story 6 days ago i sat on a hot curling iron went to the er the put all the cream ad guaze they told me to. my burn is now pinkish and not much improvement from the first time i burnt it. followed up with a doctor and she told me to scrub off all the dead skin that grows over the pink spot. But the anitbacteria cream is preventing it from healing in my opinion. Kuz i feel like the skin that grows over my pink skin is like a scab but the doc told me to scrub it off. I dont feel like their telling me to do the right thing. i want to keep the cream on but not wash off all the dead skin kuz i think its forming a a scab. what should i do i dont think doctors dont always know best.

Second degree burn not healing?
get a second opinion from a plastic surgeon or a burns surgeon

email if you still have questions - send photos feedingthedogcustard@hotmail.com
Reply:Burns normally take much longer to heal. Follow the doctors orders. Anti-bacteria cream will not prevent your burn from healing.
Reply:Leave it alone! I had a second degree burn on my leg, and it took about 3 weeks for it to blister, drain and lose the dead skin. It healed nicely and there's no scar. (Using the cream they gave me and gauze, of course.)

If you scrub off the skin, it'll continue to hurt and wil scar.
Reply:I had a burn and had to go through therapy and they basically put me through the same thing except they also pulled the scabby looking stuff with tweezers. Eventually, I developed goose-bump looking spots in my burn and they grew together. That's the stuff you want to see in your burn. Not the scabby stuff... I was told that's were bacteria lives and breeds. Not cleaning it properly could lead to a bad infection!
Reply:I had a 2nd degree burn and it took 6 months to go away. Do what you think is right, but keep in mind that ER doctors see a lot of people with burns so they are probably telling you the right thing to do. Don't expect the burn to heal anytime soon. Just be patient!
Reply:Your doctor is a big idiot you should sue her lol.. i wish!

But anyway i had a similar 2nd degree burn but it was from the sun which is even worse. all the skin around my nose peeled off and sore pink skin came out. My mother told me to constantly but aloe verra on it .. (from the real plant)

You can go to fortinos and buy one i'm pretty sure.

It might take a week or two. Mine took a week and 3 days.

Why would you scrap off your skin? thats just adding extra damage to the pink skin and the scab trying to form.

The pink skin is brand new so it will need time to fade back to normal. Do not scrub it at all. The aloe will help the pink skin begin to go back to normal. Since you've been scrubbing for a week now you have to re start.

it will probably be about 4 days before you see major improvment. Buy this product but don't use it until the pink skin doesn't hurt anymore :Avene eeau thermal at a drugstore.

it's thermal spring water and it contains PH which normal skin contains. Pink skin doesn't have much ph as you can tell it's not white. Ph is what makes your actual skin the colour it is. If your black or brown it will make it go back to your skin colour.

Eat healthy to that may help your immune system to quicken healing(somone told me that and i think it works)

DON'T SCRUB ANYMROE OKAY!

if a scab goes over the pink skin let it be there for about 5 days then buy biore strips for blackheads and put it on your nose. It will take off the scab, I know you think this will prevent healing but it actually help the already new skin underneath breath. Now start using the thermal water. At this point the new pink skin will no longer be sore and it will begin to harden and not feel as soft. It will take 3-6 more days to completely go back to normal from this point.
Reply:i recommend using all natural topicals, as they're proven to work, because they've been used for thousands of years.

tea tree oil is an anticeptic.

honey is an anti-inflamatory.

aloe vera aids in healing burns.

also, there's an ointment you can buy that works really well, by Burt's Bees:

http://www.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stor...
Reply:Guess everyone has an opinion.... here's what I tried and it worked with minimal scarring. See if you can get the real Aloe Vera plant juice (preferably from the plant, if not get as pure as they sell). After gently cleaning your wound, squeeze the Aloe, let as much as possible sit on the infected area. Take the Oil out of a Vit. E capsule (puncture with a sterilized pin, do that by heating up the tip with a lighter or match). Squeeze just a bit on top of the aloe juice. Gently, rub the two together with a sterile q-tip or cotton ball. Try to leave uncovered if possible, the air helps it heal faster. If not, put a VERY sterile gauze bandage, but a bit loose, so it doesn't soak up the mixture, plus it let's air get to it. I hope this helps... Good Luck, sweetie. And here's a big 'ol cyber hug to go with it...

More Skin Questios and Issues please Help!?

Okay well thanx to everyone who was giving me advice about ahcohol. But now i am a lil confused with everyones answers. Now i have another question about milk. I rink alot of milk it is rediculous. And my te-te (Aunt) went to a dermatologist and asked if drinking mikis good for the skin. And he said it isn't good. But i need a second opinion

More Skin Questios and Issues please Help!?
I don't think drinking milk has much to do with your skin, and don't see how it could hurt anything. It contains calcium and is certainly good for your bone development, so I would continue to drink it if you like it.

The skin under my eye in swelling!?

Last night I was on the computer and my left eye is itching, so I was rubbing it for few seconds, after few minutes I noticed the skin below my eye is swelling! Its not very big, but I can feel it and it feel uncomfortable when I look down, So I gone to sleep and woke up around 1:30pm and its still swelling!

I haven't told my parent yet, since they are at work right now.

Should I worried about this? What should I do to make the swelling gone? Should go see an eye doctor? And I don't wear any glasses or contact lens.

Thanks so much!

The skin under my eye in swelling!?
Mine do this when my sinuses are acting up. Just try some ice to it and see what happens. If it doesnt hurt and there isnt any drainage just try ice. Maybe you will need a doc in the morning if the swelling is worse or symptoms change.
Reply:Did you eat anything unusual? Or get something like a cat hair, for example in your eye? Sounds like an allergic reaction. Take a benadryl and see if it goes down. If it gets really bad go to the hospital. And yes tell your parents.
Reply:Put a cold pack on your eyes and take two IBUPROFEN. They both work on swelling and inflammation.
Reply:Unless your eye is red, painful and/or itching, it probably isn't an allergy. If holding a cold washcloth to your eye doesn't help, Benadryl is available in pill form.

You might have strained your eye temporarily if you spent too much time online. Check with a parent before going to a doctor if the swelling remains by morning.
