Skin gets itchy all over body on second day of period. Not pregnant. Anyone know what it is? No visible rash

I scratched myself raw in several places in my sleep. It is never the same spot that itches.

Hormones do all kind of strange things. If this problem is limited to one day a month, I would take Benadryl, an over-the-counter antihistamine to deal with the itch. It is important that you don't scratch: it may leave scars and/or it may lead to a skin infection.

You could also try a serum with sea kelp bioferment for the itch.

Good luck and all the best

Reply:could it be low iron or dehydration? I used to get that sometimes-(no, your not crazy :) ). swimming (with a tampon) or soaking in a bath of plain water for 1 hour and taking a low dose of gentle iron (About 25 elemental mg) might help.

if you drink a lot of green, black, red or white teas, they take the iron out of your system and you need to replenish every now and then--you'll notice you get verrryyyy tired and lethargic.

a couple symptomatic treatments are:

1) to take a sublingual b complex: I like "Coenzymate B Complex" peppermint flavor, (orange is yucky!) This settles the nerve endings really well and as a bonus it de-stresses you!-the cheapest I've found it is at http://www.vitaminshoppe.com, but it can take 10 to 15 days to get it.

2) to take "natural calm", I buy it at the same place. It settles things too but can also really relax your muscles so don't operate any heavy equipment.

calm the nerves=less or no itching!

both are completely natural and your body flushes out what you don't use. But the 'natural calm' is magnesium and will flush out your bowels as well.

you also might check with your doctor to see if your allergic to anything your using. hope it helps!

***I see that you've added some info: it honestly sounds like a reaction of some kind. A comprehensive allergist (a good one) should be able to help. meantime: wash the area with soap and water, then dab on some 2% milk. It should give you some temporary relief--but you might have to do it a couple of times during the night. This should provide you with some relief and the Benadril answer should help as well.***
