DRY SKIN AND NEED HELP...desperatly!!!?
Many lotions are high in alkalinity, some as high as 11 on the pH scale. Your skin is a 5.5 (acidic). Water is a 7 (neutral). That might be contributing to the problem or it might be chlorinated water.

Chlorine is used to kill bacteria in city water. the levels of chlorine vary from day and can be as much as 5 times stronger than a public swimming pool.

If you have city water, you might need a chlorine shower filter.

Make sure that your soap is unscented and has no dyes. If you need to switch brands, I recommend Kiss My Face Unscented, South of France Unscented, California Baby Super Sensitive or Cetaphil.

Make sure that your lotion is unscented as well, I recommend either California Baby, Cetaphil, or is your skin is extremely dry, you can use Eucerin Auquaphor until your skin softens a little (it's really greasy). Use the lotion within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower and every time you wash your hands.

Using oils to hydrate is not recommended, things like baby oil don't help to moisten skin but can actually act as a moisture barrier keeping moisture out unless used while the skin is still wet.

if you weren't looking for this information then why did you ask? Report It

Reply:home remedy: bathe in apple cidar vinegar then fresh out of the tub, NOT dried off, soothe on vasiline petroleum jelly. this helps to seal in the moisture. this i got from my whirlpool instuction manual and it works!!!!!!!!!!!! Report It

Reply:I have extremely dry hands and St. Ives Advanced Body Moisturizer helps.
Reply:what temp water do you bathe in? take tepid baths and use hypoallergenic lotions like aveno. baby oil just after a bath will also help
Reply:I have the worst dry skin. After each shower I always cover myself in alpha keri lotion. Always carry around some hand cream, they don't have to be expensive and find some non perfumed moisturising cream for your arms legs etc. Good moisturiser for you face too
Reply:I also have dry skin. Winter makes our skin worse. I constantly have to put on lotion (usually an intense moisturizer)... I even bring it with me everywhere.
Reply:Evening primrose oil, two 500 mg capsules three times daily

Vitamin B complex, 50 mg

Vitamin A, 25,000 IU (avoid during pregnancy)

Vitamin C, with bioflavonoids, 1,500 mg

Omega 3, dosage depends on which one you choose, the only one I am able to get down and not get dead fish burps from is the one that comes in little packets of orange flavored jelly ☆
Reply:4 cups of milk in your warm (not hot) bath water, should do the trick.
Reply:The problem make be your skin very sensitive to chlorine...like feel of coming out of swimming pool. Try this it really help.
