Can someone die from skin cancer???

my dad has skin cancer 4 the second time and its really bad this time do u think this could be it??

Can someone die from skin cancer???
Yes - Skin cancer can be fatel and that too Stage 4 is very bad. Melanoma is all too often a deadly disease. While it accounts for only 4 percent of all skin cancers, someone dies every hour from melanoma in the United States. This is because it is very difficult to treat once it has spread beyond where it started. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2005, 59,600 invasive melanomas will be diagnosed in the United States and nearly 7,770 men and women are expected to die from this disease.More than 1 million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year in the US. Every hour someone dies from melanoma.

Only option left is to carry out the treatments as per the advice of the oncologist and Pray for prolonged life of the patient - as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA. Best of luck-
Reply:It can spread and when it does, that's when it can be deadly.
Reply:As with any other type of cancer, it doesn't stop growing unless they treat it early by killing the cancer cells. If they cannot, death is always inevitable.
Reply:There are several types of skin cancer.

Basal cell carcinoma

Squamous cell carcinoma.

Usually, you don't die from this if it is treated.

It is the malignant melanoma that is hard to cure. Please don't worry. It's sound like your father is getting treated properly. People with fair skin develop something called actinic keratosis and if not treated, it turns to skin cancer. Most of that cancer is caused by too much exposure to the sun.

Best wishes.
Reply:Yes but it depends on what kind it is. Malignant melanoma that metastasizes is the worst. It spreads to major organs and is deadly. The important thing is that he's getting treated.

There are other types that aren't life threatening but still serious. God Bless and best of luck.
Reply:my uncle did. He died from melanoma. He was not one to goo doctors. I would assume it can be removed. By the time my uncle went to the HOSPITAL his back was covered.
Reply:It can be fatal if it metastasizes to other organs. However, if they get it early enough and use chemo and surgery aggressively it can be stopped. They're also inventing new treatments all the time. There are also a number of things that will slow it down, like proper diet and positive thinking:

In short, life is tough but its not time to give up and cry just yet. People have survived when they were pretty close to the edge. My mom had cancer and lived. So did my stepmother's mother. As long as you don't make the mistake of only treating it with diet and positiveness or only medicine, then your dad has a solid chance.
Reply:I think it can cause he could get very infected and die. Well i no some victims of cancer my aunt died from brest and my grandmas died from lung so cancer is really a bad diease.
Reply:The only skin tumor usually causing death is a malignant melanoma. Basal cell cancers and squamous cell cancers rarely spread, but may be locally destructive.
Reply:Just pray. If you pray it will somewhat come of your back. I can a imagine he is a great man and he wil be going to a good place if it is the end. Runing a round a freaking out wont help. Just sit down pray the rosary and just do what you have to do. Just dont loose Hope.
Reply:I have stage 4 metastatic melanoma - yes you can and will die from it.
Reply:signs and symptoms of skin cancer -A skin abnormality that increases in size and appears multicolored, pink, red, black, brown, tan, pearly, translucent, or tan.

A mole that changes color, textures, grows, becomes irregular in shape, or that is bigger than a pencil eraser.

A spot or growth that continually itches, hurts, becomes crusty, scabs, or bleeds.

An open sore that does not heal after 4 weeks or one that heals and reopens

yes u can eventually die of any type of cancer if untreated !
