How do I care for a 2nd-degree burn? New layer of healed skin has come off.?

A week ago, I splattered boiling pasta sauce across my chest and it burned quite badly. I've since had it covered in a second-skin bandage that is made for multi-day use. When I removed the bandage today (it had been a week and I didn't want it to get infected), it took some of the new skin off! I'm afraid it will heal unevenly and scar badly. It's in a very prominent area and it's a large burn, so I REALLY don't want it to scar. Any tips?

I went to the doctor when I got my stomach burned. They prescribed an ointment that I had to apply to the area and then cover that with a sterile gauze patch. That way it heals from the out side of the burn in. I find that cocoa butter helps to get rid of the scar but it does take awhile to work.

But, the best thing for you to do is go to see a dermatologist.
Reply:Go out and get some vitamin E tablets and cut them open and them rub the stuff inside them all over your burn. It works like a charm.

Good Luck!
Reply:aloe vera gel the real stuff not some junk from makeup counter...
Reply:If there is a blister, do not pop it. Dress it with gauze or a bandaid.

Put antibiotic ointment on it (neosporin, bacitracin) and cover that with a sterile piece of non-stick gauze (telfa). These are stuff you can buy over the counter and find in your local pharmacy/grocery isles. If you can't find non-stick gauze, then regular gauze is fine.

Infection control is important during this healing stage so make sure you keep the wound clean. Change the dressing every day or as needed if there is a lot of drainage from the wound.
Reply:Keep the area clean and dry to avoid infection. You can purchase a band aid that actually forms a second skin on top of the burn. It wont fall off until after the wound is healed . The product is called 2nd Skin. You can purchase it at any drug store.
