CHURCH Was Jesus Christ Brown skin or White?

I cant seem to get this white skinned blue eyed image out of my mind. I visited Libya about 2 months ago and there is no way he could have made it enduring the heat if he was that complexion. Now I know he didn't come from Libya but its as close as I got to the Egypt/ Israel area and I cant imagine the heat changing that much from Libya. Plus have you seen a map lately that hold area was and is Brown skinned dark skinned and well tahst about it .

TO BE SO CLOSE TO CHAD, LIBYA, NIGERIA,ALGERIA WELL LETS JUST SUM IT UP BY SAAING THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA I COULD NOT FOR ONE SECOND SEE A WHITE SKINNED GUY IN THE MIST OF ALL THOSE PEOPLE.

BY THE WAY IM FROM NASHVILLE TENNESSEE IM BACK HOME AND IM GLAD I WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE TO VISIT.

CHURCH Was Jesus Christ Brown skin or White?
Jesus (assuming that he existed - he didn't) was a Mediterranean Jew. He was dark olive complected with dark hair and eyes. He was not the Nordic/Arian Jesus commonly portrayed in the West.
Reply:he would have been dark skinned because of his race.
Reply:Does it matter? It was his blood that bought mankind's salvation and that flowed red just like everyone else's.

I do see your point about having been taught one thing. But truly, the important thing is not what color his skin was but again that he shed his blood on behalf of humankind. that said, Oliveskinned is not brownskinned. No. Think of Greeks or Italians
Reply:yellow

the papyrus that Josephus created Jesus on was yellowish

parchment paper gets orangish and brownish later
Reply:ok.
Reply:Historically, Jesus was a middle eastern Jew, there is no possible way he would have been Aryan like he is depicted by churches.
Reply:He looked like a Jew.
Reply:Look in the mirror....Jesus lives in the heart of a Christian.

But being that he was Jewish, I would think he was olive skinned and dark haired. while He walked the earth.
Reply:he was dark-skinned...just like everyone else in that region of the world.
Reply:it doesn't matter
Reply:Jesus is described as having a olive complexion, he was brown skinned like all the other Hebrews..
Reply:he was brown skinned!
Reply:brown- darker like middle easterners
Reply:ive heard he was both. because he supports black and whites. tho evey picuture ive seen or anything. he has been white. to be honest. im not totally sure.
Reply:Well, Jesus was Jewish, Middle Eastern and spent most of his time in the sun so the likelihood is, as you say, that he had nut-brown skin. Even if he was white he would have been tanned.

The imagery of Christ we see is to do with idealisation and projection of the spirituality of the given culture. I've seen beautiful Ethiopian images of Old and New Testament characters who look like Ethiopians.

The truth is we don't know what Christ really looked like.
Reply:Brown or a deep tan

He was a Jew and they are not white nor do they have blue eyes

That is Hollywood

He was also by the sea and on the sea a lot, they were fishermen mostly and they walked for miles in the sun
Reply:Jesus was an Israeli Jew, what do you think?
Reply:jesus was brown skined you realy answered your own question

korkie
Reply:Man-made portrayal.

The "pigmentation" of the temporary, fleshly body Jesus was housed in is irrelevant since everything about Jesus and His ministry was spiritual.

He came to die so that others may live.
Reply:He had a tan and probably looked like Klinger on the TV show MASH.
Reply:Does his complexion really matter.

This is one of the things that really causes conflict.

The important thing is his blood and the salvation that he has given us.
Reply:He was a Jew, so I would say dark skinned.
Reply:White.
